Spelling Dictation Test Grading Rubrics
The Test is:
· Given on Mondays after they have taken the word test on Friday. I correct and send home the ungraded word test so they can continue to practice the words over the weekend if needed.
· Three sentences are given one at a time slowly. I repeat the sentences as many times as needed.
· The sentences include 9-10 of the words that were on the basic list.
· The test allows the students to apply the spelling of these words while also using correct writing conventions.
· This helps the students practice on demand writing.
Grading Scale
4= 100% accuracy on spelling and conventions such as capitals, punctuation .
3.5= 100% on spelling words, capitalization, and ending punctuation. 2 or less mistakes of other kinds.
3= 80%-99% correct for the spelling words and capitalization. 3 or less mistakes of other kinds.
2= 70%-75% correct on spelling words with 4 or less mistakes of other kinds.
1=69% or below on spelling words and 5 or more mistakes of other kinds.
